Side Gusseted Bags
Side gusseted bags are named for the gusset, or fold, on either side of the bag. The gussets expand when the package is filled with product, and the weight of the product usually holds the bag upright. This package format has two long faces, or panels, on the front and the back for product branding. The side gusset bag is the recognized format for coffee packaging today. It is also widely used in other markets such as, pet food, powders goods, teas and other specialty food products.
We make a full line of stock bags to accommodate most coffee roasts, as well as products sensitive to water-vapor and oxygen.
PBi foil gusseted bags come with or without PBi Patented One-Way Degassing Valve. Many of our bags feature “Easy-Peel” film for consumer convenience. Our large bags - 20lb. and 40lb. - are great for any bulk products including dry pet food, resins, chemicals and other industrial products.
Features and Options

Folds open, allowing the package to expand and accommodate the product.
The bottom of the bag is sealed. The bottom of the bag is formed manually or with a forming shoe.
Center Back Seal
Some side gusseted bags have the back seal in the center.

Side Gusseted bags can also have the back seal on the right or left side of the back face/panel. The 8 oz and the 16 oz bags have a side back seal to allow maximum space for labeling the package.
In the world of packaging, there are many ways to stand out. But the Block Bottom Bag makes a statement.
It combines the benefits of a traditional side gusseted bag and stand-up pouch, and rolls it into a package that sits narrow on the shelf, doesn’t tip over, and squares up like a box.
Block bottom bags are available from 4 oz to 2.2 lbs with and without a valve.
NEW! Block Bottom Bag with Pocket Zipper
PBi is expanding our Block Bottom Bag product line with our newest editions featuring a Pocket Zipper.
The pocket zipper offers the convenience of a zipper with the benefit of easy filling. Installed on the front of the package, the tear/pull tab is a cutout tab that can be easily grabbed and torn open - allowing easy access to the bag. Below the tear line is the built in press-to-close zipper. The zipper functions the same manner as other zippers. These stock bags come in our 12 oz size with or without a valve.

Similar in format to the side gusset bag, PBi’s Quad Seal Bags create a distinctive difference in shelf appearance. Sealed on the four corners of the bag, rather than the back, the quad seal bag offers four crisp, clean panels for labels and graphic placement and an overall strong shelf presence.
Quad Seal Features
Side seals give the package four crisp corners and two distinct panels for marketing. Quad seal bags are more stable, and have cleaner lines than standard side gusset bags.
