We recently asked our Customer Service/Inside Sales Group, “What are frequently asked questions you hear from our customers?”
One such question is: “Exactly what does ‘easy open’ mean and why would PBi carry a bag that is not “easy open” if the value is so meaningful?”
Glenn Sacco, VP Sales and Marketing, answers:
When people talk about “easy open” or “easy peel” they are referring to packages that can be pulled open with your bare hands without having to tear the package or cut the package open with scissors or a knife. This is achieved with special materials and most “standard” packages do not have this trait.
To make a package that can be heat sealed airtight and still be “easy open” is pretty common now but years ago it was a little rarer. One reason not to have easy peel is cost (cheaper without it). Some people do not have sealing equipment that can be adjusted well enough to work with easy open packages.
I hope this sheds some light. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (800) 562-2247 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
