The Specialty Coffee Association of America Show was held from April 12 – 14 in Boston, MA.
While we are all deeply saddened by the tragic events post-show, it is a good reminder that the best defense against this kind of attack, is to continue to appreciate our industry, the people we meet, and remember the moments of enjoyment.
To that end, a series of coincidences came about and I ended proposing on bended knee to our Central American master distributor from Costa Rica (see picture to the right). Mr. Humberto Brenes and his sons, Jose and Roberto, dined with us at the Omni Parker House in Boston.
We learned that Table 40 in the restaurant was the table where JFK proposed to Jackie O. In my opinion, I had no choice but to get to the table and propose to Humberto. As evidenced by the photo, he was overjoyed, and we spent the night in bliss!
Pacific Bag attended as an exhibitor, and our booth was busy throughout the show. It’s great to introduce PBI to new folks entering the market, and to see people who I have known for years.
I have been attending SCAA shows for +20 years, and it was great to see friends/customers like Peter Longo from Porto Rico Importing, Nicky from Maui Coffee, Rick Hubbard from Hubbard & Cravens and many more.
