Is There Room in Your Company Mission Statement for a Cause?

Kelle Vandenberg

When the economy turns are we all find ourselves tightening the belt a little, often the first place we curb expenditures is in our giving. We ask you to find creative ways to continue to give and help out. PBi has always been involved in various charities on the local, national and international level. We regularly give and/or volunteer with organizations like Coffee Kids, the International Women’s Coffee Alliance, Café Femenino Foundation, and conduct employee/employer matching programs for natural disasters around the world.

This year we are involving you and taking giving to a new level. Over the course of the rest of 2012 and into 2013, you have three programs you can help us with; the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Homeward Pet Adoption Center.

Giving is easy when you can give just by buying bags you may already use. Read on for an overview of each program and how you can help.

National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)
PBi and the National Breast Cancer Foundation will team up and launch a matte pink side gusset bag in support of Breast Cancer, with PBi contributing 10% of the profits directly to support the fight against Breast Cancer.

The matte pink 12-16oz. side gusseted bags will be ready for October 2012, and we will accept pre-orders – call to reserve yours today.

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
(in memory of Ms. Lisa Roberts)
Pancreatic cancer hit home at PBi this year with the loss of one of our employees and friends, Ms. Lisa Roberts, who fought the illness for over a year before succumbing. The whole PBi family watched and prayed and suffered with Lisa and her family as she battled.

It is fitting that we honor her by becoming a Community Ambassador for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. We will offer our PURPLE side gusseted bags and stand-up pouches, with PBi contributing a portion of the profits to support the fight against pancreatic cancer.  Hopefully our combined efforts will help the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network help people like Lisa.

Homeward Pet Adoption Center
Seattle is a pet friendly place, and the PBi crew is pet crazy! It seems everyone on staff has a cat/s or a dog/s that they love passionately - the mere mention of euthanizing an animal or treating and animal with unkindness spoils the spirit of the PBi group. In that end, we selected local no-kill, non-profit animal shelter, Homeward Pet Adoption Center, as the beneficiary of this program.

PBi will offer a popular pet snack paper bags to petfood customers who want to help generate some contributions, via a percent of revenues, to Homeward Pet. If the effort saves just ONE pet or helps feed strays then we will have accomplished our goal.
